Help save West Hampstead's community centre

Councillors Flick Rea and Keith Moffit have called a public meeting to discuss the future of the West Hampstead community centre.  It will be on 30th June at 6.00pm in the Community Hall on Broomsleigh Street.

Flick Rea tells Northwest 6:

Its purpose is to look at the way forward, to discuss interim arrangements so that some of the user groups can continue their activities and how, in the long run, community services can be re-established in our area. We hope it will not be used to look back at the past and cast blame in any direction. Staff and volunteers of WHCA should be thanked and commended for all their hard work and dedication over many years but we have to look to the future. Hopefully people will come forward to offer their skills and enthusiasm so a phoenix can arise in Mill Lane!

She has also taken Northwest 6 to task for inadvertently implying that she single-handedly saved the Jester Festival - now renamed Jester on the Green Festival.   "Not just me," she tells us, "A group of other magical energetic people with the valued support of Camden Council's arts department."

Happy to make that clear.
