Update on doctors' surgeries

More on the proposed mergers of two GPs' practices in West Hampstead. The story is not quite as reported in the Camden New Journal.

Camden Primary Care Trust has told Northwest 6 that the merger of the Mill Lane and Solent Road practices is one of a number of options being considered. A decision is expected early in 2007.

The local campaign group, West Hampstead Amenity & Transport, says a merger of the practices could be a mixed blessing. The chairwoman of WHAT, Virginia Berridge, told Northwest 6, "If it means better premises then good - the Mill Lane facilities are poor and don't have disabled access. But if it means fewer doctors, that would be bad."

I'm currently with Solent Road myself, and really would prefer it if the whole thing didn't get shifted up to Mill Lane. It's bad enough having to walk an extra half a mile now that I've moved and have a railway line in the way...

I was assuming that the Mill Lane practice would shift to Solent Road. Mill Lane is somewhat challenged in the fit for purpose department so it would be perverse to merge in another practice - especially one which enjoys more than adequate premises.

Oh well that's OK then (for me, which is obviously all that matters). Does this mean Solent Road might even get a stable roster of GPs, I wonder?
Don't worry, that's rhetorical.

I just heard that the merger has gone through - does anyone else know?

We are discusted that we as patients were not consulted about the merger we moved from Mill lane because the service provided by the doctor there did not meet our needs, staff were unhelpful and uncaring. We are extremely happy with our doctors at Solent Road the staff are polite and welcoming, the news of this merger give us grave concerns about our future medical care.Does anyone care about the patients? does anybody out there feel the same way?
